Receiving the Holy Spirit Does Not Equal Tantrums

Kanye West, a renown hip hop artist is often portrayed by the media as having tantrum problems and being in need of some sort of anger management. His most famous loss of control happened in September 2007 during the MTV video music awards; West lost all five awards for which he was nominated, including video of the year and best male artist. The reports is show of disappointment in a negative way. What the press failed to report is that Kanye West is a sincere evangelical whose great love of the Holy Spirit is often times greatly misunderstood. In an exclusive video, West is seen becoming filled with the Holy Spirit, which overtakes him, especially in moments of great emotion (Exclusive Video). As the video clearly reveals his fists come from his feeling and power of the Spirit and West gives complete control of his body up to this Spirit. As seen in the video, the bleeps that can be heard block out his actual words of praise to the Holy Spirit. Looking closely, viewers can almost see his mouth form the words "Oh Lord Jesus!" At the beginning of the video, West says F*** MTV, or so the viewers are led to believe by the bleeps. What West is really saying is free MTV; he later on says tell MTV to listen to him, especially the words that come out of his mouth when he finds a connection with the Holy Spirit. Kanye in the video also keeps on saying he is trying hard and by this he means he is trying hard to connect with his holly Spirit, but because of the distractions of the cameras and the goings on of the awards program, he struggles keep consumed by the Spirit. Moreover, the man whom West continues to refer to, is Christ, who is guiding him every minute. Unfortunately, most of his Holy words are blocked by the recording crew who took advantage of the dark room and unclear footage. Instead of reporting the truth of Kanye's holy episodes, they twisted his words, attempting to get ratings by hiding the spiritual phrases coming out of Kanye's mouth. Obviously, the public should know that Kanye West's seeming tantrum phenomena is not the twisted scenario the media would have us believe. His tantrums do not come from anger and fury; rather, they come from his passion for Christ and his love for the Holy Spirit. Whenever he is distressed and down, he prays and fills himself up with the Holy Spirit that erases his pain. He may appear to be yelling in a fit of anger, but in reality, West is shouting out for the world to hear that he loves Jesus and is moved to show his love with the passion it deserves. This is precisely what gives West the energy he needs to continue with his music. Sadly, his sudden actions, which are not expected by people around him are described as him having bad temper and tantrums. On has only to look to West's music to see the proof of his love of religion. His “Jesus Walks” was a hip hop song about Jesus released in May 25, 2004. Here again, the media, much to Wests dismay, only focused on the songs with sex, drugs, and violence; they do not highlight his songs that are about religion and Jesus. His songs and his action sets up a good role model for all the current and future artists whose songs always filled with inappropriate lyrics. Even with this evidence staring them in the face, because of West's criticism of the media, they have decided to seek revenge on him. They criticize West’s claims and actions and place him in a unfavorable light in front of the public. The public since then has been misunderstanding Kanye West and viewing his tantrum as his personality problems. They forget about West’s devotion toward his religion. He and Britney both face similar injustices in which both celebrities are serious about their religion, but the public, not being accurately informed by the media believe the ravings about them being horrible people with disturbing problems. Both celebrities are clearly being victimized by the media.
